-- Asymmetry is Attitude.  gorgeous color, but a loss of sharpness on the outer petals.. deeper depth of field/smaller f for shots like this usually works wonders, if you can afford to lose the stop or two of shutter-speed.
nice shot though you mentioned it's for a contest, good luck with that!  beautiful colors!!! the contrast is amazing.
